EvoWiki - the Evolution education wiki - is an Open Source, collaborative project inspired by Wikipedia and Talk.Origins, and using MediaWiki (the same wiki format used in Wikipedia and in Palaeos org. Content on EvoWiki is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. Some EvoWiki content has been used in Palaeos Org, where naturally, it is distributed under the same license.
The emphasis is on Evolutionary Science and countering Creationism. From the EvoWiki:Goals page:
- "The Evolution Education wiki (EvoWiki for short) is a Wiki about evolution and origins. The focus is on evolution education, particularly addressing the arguments of Creationism and Intelligent Design from the perspective of science. It is inspired by webpages such as talkorigins.org and talkdesign.org, and the goal of EvoWiki is to complement rather than duplicate these online resources."
[edit] EvoWiki and Palaeos org
EvoWiki's comprehensive coverage of topics like phylogenetics, Creationism, and some transitional fossils or transitional evolutionary stages, together with its open source status (Creative Commons license) which allows anyone to use the material however they want provided the same license is acknowledged) means that it can serve as an excellent means of kickstarting Palaeos org in those areas it specialises in but are not already covered, or not covered adequately, on Palaeos com. As with material copied from Wikipedia., this does not mean that such pages should be permanently retained "as is". Rather, in these particular respects Palaeos org represnts a fork with EvoWiki, in that the two sets of pages will progressively diverge with time.
