Hymenochaetaceae are a family of bracket fungi in the Homobasidiomycetes. Molecular data indicate that it belongs in a well-supported hymenochaetoid clade (Hibbett & Binder, 2002) along with taxa previously included in the Corticiaceae (e. g. Hyphodontia) and Polyporaceae (e. g. Oxyporus, Schizopora - Hibbett & Thorn, 2001).
Description: (from Hibbett & Thorn, 2001) Clampless generative hyphae, fruiting bodies darkening in KOH (xanthochroic reaction), production of white rot, presence of setae.
