International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature

The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, founded in 1895, is the governing body for zoological nomenclature. The Commission decides on the rules governing nomenclature (the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature), and may also issue Opinions on individual cases where strict application of said rules may conflict with stability in nomenclature.
