Secondary consumers are heterotrophs that feed on the lower-level consumers; such as some carnivores, suspension feeders, scavengers, parasites on herbivores, detritivores to some extent, omnivores in part, and microorganisms that feed on heterotrophic bacteria (most eubacteria).
