The Solar System is our own local corner of the universe, tucked into the outer edge of the Orion Arm of the Milky Way. The Solar System can be defined as everything from the Sun all the way out to the heliopause, a sort of sheet caused by the Sun's magnetic field that defines the outer boundary of its gravitational influence. This large space is about a light-year and a half in radius, and includes not only the Sun, but all eight planets, the various dwarf planets, the one hundred sixty something moons, and the various small bodies ranging in size from a couple hundred kilometers across to a couple of atoms wide.
