Hi

Now that I've posted a few articles on prehistoric cephalopods it's perhaps time to say something about myself.

I'm a retired exploration geologist with a B.S. degree from the University of Arizona. Most of my caeer was in the pursuit and exploration of economic uranium deposits, for which I had some success. My accademic emphasis was on invertebrate paleontology (American spelling), which until recently I had no chance to apply.

That has changed. I volunteer at the New Mexico Musuem of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque, NM, docenting for a few hours one day a week and working for the better part of another day in the collections. There I have access to and work with Dr Rousseau Flower's extensive collection of fossil nautiloids which includes many type specimens.

My interests include cephalopod evolution and phylogeny, determining valid species and genera, and present the knowledge to interested and capable audiences.

If anyone's interested in collaboration, let me know on a talk or discussion page, but don't expect a quick response as I don't check them on a regular basis.

Cheers to all

John McDonnell. 1/02/09
