Fair comment on the issue of registration! We have some spam filtering in place, but I'm looking at implementing more because what we have is insufficient. I've a personal dislike for captcha, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have them, so I'm leaving the idea of captcha vs. registration to the joint wisdom of the 'senior team' - for now we'll try registration and see where it gets us, good or ill.
OK, I've now implemented Bad Behavior's spam blocking, and if this posts it means it worked OK! It does feel like it has slowed things down some, so I'd appreciate feedback on whether we should keep it. (Paul)

Sorry for the much belated reply. You asked:
