The Anthropocene is a proposed epoch of geological history that follows the Holocene, and is characterized by extensive human influence over the natural environment. It may or may be introduced in future versions of the ICS geological time scale. The beginning of the Anthropocene is set at the industrial revolution or sometimes at the beggining of the Neolithic era when farming was invented.
