(abbreviation l. c.) A lapsus calami (Latin "slip of the pen"), also known as a nomen nullum ("null name"), is an inadvertant misspelling of a scientific name. Lapsi calamorum do not have any official nomenclatorial status, and do not compete for homonymy. As such, they should not be confused with unjustified emendations, which are deliberate acts.
