The Scaridae are the parrotfishes, large, wrasse-like fishes whose teeth form beaks.  Parrotfishes are found primarily in the tropical regions of the Indo-Pacific, especially in or near coral reefs.  They graze on rocks and coral in order to feed on edible organic matter, including algae, encrusting animals, biofilms, and coral polyps.
